Solicitors insisting on sending letters constantly instead of emailing or picking up the fucking phone.

Recently got home to find one of those postie's notes about not being able to deliver an unstamped letter, so trotted off down to Hawksworth, to pay for it. It was from my solicitor saying thanks for the prompt payment of the ridiculous sum for 15 mins of their time.

I was tempted to go and have a moan, but my experience is you can't win with these cunts... not worth wasting adrenaline on

When you see footballers wailing and rolling about, they really need to take a look at themselves....

Ahh, The Ship. Great location for a boozer.
I saw The Damned in there when it was Bar 12.

Used to be all stand for the Irish anthem at last orders on a Friday night in The Ship.

Plus they'd just have billed you for the time they spent listening to your complaint!

Yeah but when you can charge x for a letter but only y for a phone call or email which option you going to use?

I can understand the need for a paper trail but email provides that. I often do work which overlaps with property legals and I sent my first letter in 3 years a couple of weeks back, and that was only to an old guy who didn't have email.
Yep very true. What winds me up more is on new builds they have to then do the searches and draw up contracts etc. Here is a novel idea, do all that while the house is being built ffs

On new builds I never understand as the searches will be common for all why they cannot just be done once by an independent solicitor and that passed to all buying solicitors, rather than 10's (or 100's) of purchasers paying for them time and time again.

Likewise contract drafting on such transactions is little more than a Ctrl F and replace process......

Take 5 minutes sending them an invoice for your time collecting it, charged proportionally as their 15 minutes has been charged....

Just cloned a friends computer to an ssd, then made quite a few changes, restarted and all the work I'd done is gone. It was like I'd never started. Weird.

Great memories of The Ship  I used to lodge there in the late 80's when Pat & Mary Blake had it. Don't remember last orders though!!!

It seems the Adver's penchant for non-stories about "people who are a bit cross with shops" has gone national:
