Isn't it an extension of the normal monitoring companies do when they recruit, we just had to apply for school for our three year old and the form was extensive and seemed to be mainly religion and ethnicity questions about us and her.

What fucking difference can that make to whether you are suitable or not?
Probably because being Gay or trans gender means they can employ you & tick something off their must employ list |

It's totally normal. 90% of jobs have a 'equal opportunities' form these days. It'll say somewhere that it won't have any baring on your application, just that they collect the data to know who's applying.
