Peter Noble from the 69 side was brilliant in the air and only 5ft 10 tall.

Agreed, but will forever remember his equaliser at West Brom in the '3rd leg' of the League Cup semi. Not a header though. How's about Morris Owen though for heading ability? Too young (!) to see him as a striker, but he was a classic centre half in those days (v early '60s) - bald headed, hard as nails, took no prisoners.

As for Pat Terry - another hero. Being ex Millwall a lot of the lads who came to live in Swindon from the Old Kent Road, New Cross, Deptford etc suddenly had a link with the club, whereupon they became CG regulars. Just looked at the stats, Pat had a great goalscoring record. Worth today? Several million I reckon.

Maurice , was a Chindit during the war, so fought in the Burmese jungle against the Honda owners...so it was probably dishonourable to be taken prisoner..

However, he was a proper role model and gentleman in every way...

Of players of recentish vintage, who could come close to the likes of Maurice, Pat Terry, Noble and OST in aerial ability I'd offer Tommy Mooney.

He's kind of entered STFC demonology, but did give us a season of proper footballer, which will do for me

Not sure of my facts here...suggest Pat Terry scored more goals with his head than with his feet.

He was signed from Reading and became a firm favourite with me..possibly the main reason was that he travelled to Saturday home fixtures on the 12.40 train leaving Didcot for Swindon. Think he told my dad that he lived in Brentford or Hendon.

That was over 40 years ago....fuck, I must have a sad life to remember such crap  !!!!

Russell Slade will be next to be reported to the FA then...

Ex-Town Favourite Michael Pook was playing football in a charity football tournament at the County Ground this evening, followed by watching the start of he CL in the Merlin.  He looked very good but we were very bad...
