Stephens is 22 in January... I think his time is running out to stake his claim for a first team place at Saints. I think we'd be silly to not at least put a bid in for him in Jan.

Our on the pitch strategy seems very slow and very short termist. Whilst players we've sold on like Gladwin and Thompson are an upgrade on what we have - they do nothing for us (on the pitch) long term. Whether they are amazing, shit or somewhere in between then go when back their loan is up and we're back to square one.
Depends if the strategy has changed from getting promotion/play offs to avoid relegation?

shit defence: bring in another midfielder. hmmmm.
gladwin still a boost, but not a silver bullet to our woes
Exactly, we've been crying out for an experienced centre half for a while but we persist in playing young and inexperienced players there. Somebody who the youngsters can learn from and talk them through games.

Yeah, so then we can moan about the experienced centre half being too slow, not good enough on the ball and query if his "legs have gone". Sorry to be cynical but...

El abd signs
Its a little know fact that El abd is in fact an anagram of El Bad, thus proving his legs have gone at 31 and he's too slow. --- My original comment was not really aimed at the necessary cover replacements, but at the whole of the recruitment in the defence being neglected.

Did El Abd ever have legs? He's always been an old fashioned blunt instrument hasn't he? Not that I'm complaining, he's likely what we need.

I assume so as I don't ever recall playing us against a defender in a wheelchair and wouldn't his balls have got dreadfully chafed without?
