But maybe if the defence was solid and was not prone to leaking goals every game the midfield maybe a bit better as it is less pressure on them to TRY and defend.

S owe get the defensive loan in does that mean that when Turnbull has finished his ban Branco will be dropped as we have to play the loans, would it not be an idea to get in an experienced full back as well instead of Gladwin

I fear it could be Adam El-Abd.

...by fear I mean 'I'll give him a chance and, I mean yeah, he was alright at Bury last year'.

Obviously.

He was a fucking beast against us for Brighton a few years ago. We could do worse.

Can hardly do any worse than our current defenders can he? Look forward to seeing him sign.

Gladwin would bring some much needed creativity, something we have lacked since Byrne went.

Him returning should also push Traore and Rodgers down the pecking order, so hopefully it happens. A midfield trio of Kasim-Thompson-Gladwin would be the best in the league on paper.

I've seen him play against us several times, and I don't think we won a ball against him. More than happy if it's him.

Isn't going back and signing two former midfielders on loan a bit of a last resort?

Not when they are worth well over seven figures between them.

Not when any team in our league would be happy to have them it isn't.  Not normal practice obviously but if they improve the squad and you can get them them then why not?

I suppose so. But it's filling gaps that should have been filled in the summer, not September and October.

Our on the pitch strategy seems very slow and very short termist.
Whilst players we've sold on like Gladwin and Thompson are an upgrade on what we have - they do nothing for us (on the pitch) long term. Whether they are amazing, shit or somewhere in between then go when back their loan is up and we're back to square one.

I'm not sure Gladwin is a good move. While he is no doubt talented and could create opportunities  (or take them if he continues his form from last season) I think his casual approach to games won't sit well with an increasingly impatient crowd. Particularly if we're losing.

And as for us having Branco and El-Abd as ball playing centre halves.... ouch.

I can see Stephens ending up back here in January, he isn't getting a look in at 'Boro.
