A lot of fishermen about today. I doubt they've caught much. Cold nights probably won't help either fish or man.

Indeed. Always surprises me how many there are around Peatmoor lagoon day and night, any day of the week no matter what the season.

Nice lake that I used to live close by and would walk around it all the time

An otter was seen and videoed recently, as well as two turtles in the weir though they are currently hibernating, herons and rats near to the shops side of the lake where most feed the wild fowl.

I know about the turtles as someone posted photos last summer but didn't know about the Otter and never saw any herons. One summer someone was camping in the woods for a few months and the lake always used to freeze over during the cold snap

Booked a summer holiday today - week in Southwold. Lovely part of the world.

Wonder if I'll get to go on this one?

It has frozen over recently but very thin ice. The otter is a new development. Herons are regular visitors as are the Canada Geese and Swans. Lovely walk any season though I do prefer summer. Only blight is litter but you’ll find it everywhere sadly.

I'm guessing the otter must come up the stream that runs along Sparcells towards the old railway track

Fun Fact - My dad was a drainage engineer and designed that lake as drainage for the area.

Turtles/Terrapins are all over the bloody place, mainly released by  people who got them without realising that they get quite big and can be nasty little bastards. When I worked on the canals they were common and causing my ecologist colleagues quite some concern.
