Don’t really keep up with the Premier League anymore but my recollection was Lampard Chelsea boss & played a very attacking style of play.

Chelsea were exciting, scoring goals but letting too many in. To the point they sacked Lampard.

Tuchel came it and started to make them more defensive & towards the end of that season Chelsea hit a very sweet spot where you still had the Lampard attacking flair in the team mixed with Tuchels defensive steel & they won the CL.

…then the tide turned the other way as Tuchel turned Chelsea into a boring defensive team who didn’t score many.

Of course I could be well off with some (all of that)

I think Tuchel at Chelsea went tits up mainly due to the change from a pretty hands off Abramovich regime which he liked to a very hands on interfering Boehly regime which he didn't. His reputation to fall out with everyone is pretty legendary so who knows how he will fare with the FA, maybe not having someone above buying players and telling him he has to play them may be a master stroke.

Well this is my opinion which is shared with many people i know. It should be an English person running the England team not a bloody German. Doesn't sit well with me.

My take also. Appoint the best man for the job. Ideally it would be an English manager, but I think currently out of all the elite coaches you'd struggle to make an argument for any English manager.

Personally I'm not hugely arsed and wish Tuchel well.

Funny how we don’t have the same qualms at club level…

I get though that this is intentional, so ideally all the people should be of that nationality.

But these are the rules. Foreign coaches are ok. So that's where I stand. You get the best you can within the rules.

I'd agree when the same applies to English club sides, once that happens we might have enough decent candidates to manage the National Team, until that's the case I agree with Batch, best man for the job will do

I’m ok with Tuchel. I wonder if Zidane was considered though? He would have been a very popular choice.

Happy with Tuchel.

I wonder if there would've been this much uproar if we had appointed Guardiola?

There absolutely wouldn't have been. Sadly, many people are more passionate about the rivalries with Germany and Argentina than they are about winning anything. It does feel odd to me having a German coach, but I'm not upset about it.

The Irish loved Big Jack when he was their manager.
