Let’s say someone bought 1,000 tickets at £24 with dodgy money, and then received that money back in fees for services rendered, sweeping the DRS after everyone has left for example, then you would have clean money.
I’m not suggesting this is happening (at least there’s no proof that it is) but would make sense if attendances were inflated Wink

A lot more diplomatically, eloquently, articulately and crucially legally safe than I would have put it  Cheesy

Hmmm I did wonder why we have so many 'blue' security staff standing around doing nothing on match days !!  Doh

I've always wondered why. If I buy a matchday ticket before then no-show, do I also still get counted?  Is attendance then "tickets sold" (at all clubs)?
Yes, all clubs announce the attendance as being tickets sold not the "actual in attendance" figure.

Does that include freebies?

Yes it does, or always did. A seat sold (given away) is a seat counted on the attendance figure regardless of the price of the seat be it free, £1 or £24.

Quite often see large square chunks on the TE side of the Arkells unavailable. I wonder if they are freebie seats?

Probably more likely that they dont put those seats for sale until the others are sold out to save on stewarding costs etc.
