Is Jake Young a younger version of Billy Paynter ?
no because he scores more without the need of penalties

I remember him getting a few pens but I don't remember him getting lots of pens, Paynter was a bang average player though IMO who got lucky in 1 season.

Young does have a lot more pace than Paynter ever had and gets in better positions.

Edit: just checked he score 8 pens out of his 51 goals for Town, missing 1 pen, so yes thats a fair percentage of pens.

Paynter was a great striker and was the perfect foil for both Austin & Cox.

Sure 1 of his 3 seasons was a belter compared to other 2 but let’s not pretend he didn’t play a massive part in Cox getting the goals he did.

If you didn’t rate him as anything above bang average you don’t know football & this is a hill I’m willing to die on…

Letting him get into the last year of contract was bloody stupid, too

Oh yes. That was the kind of quality you don’t often see at our level

1 goal in 3 whilst with us. Hardly average.
That’s ignoring what DV said about him behind next to Cox and Austin and helping them.

His stats are definitely average for a main striker, a focal point but that wasn’t ever his job for us.

Emile Heskey didn’t have a great scoring record for Liverpool or England but played a lot of games for both to accommodate Michael Owen

skewed by the final year. how many were penalties?

it's a reasonable return 1 in 3, 1 in 4 is about what you'd expect.

he was around in a period of excellence up front though. He was no parkin, cox,  mooney or Austin .

Guess I just didn't see the donkey work/foil that you do

DV if it helpsi also think Heskey was an absolute donkey

8 of his 25 goals were pens in the final year, and I agree with you.

My mate hasn’t seen much of Khan before yesterday and he said what you’ve said about him. He was absolutely immense yesterday, a real quality showing. I think a lot of us held him in high regard last season too, it was just his temperament that was in question. Between himself and Flynn that certainly seems to have been an issue that’s now ironed out. He’s going to be vital this term

I think a lot of the fanbase underrate Khan. I can see why there has been rumoured interest from clubs in the league above. Very good first touch, athletic and breaks the lines.

He just needs to stop his hot headedness at times, he occassionally puts his foot on the ball and falls over to lose possession but when hes on his game he is brilliant.
