I sat next to him at dinner the other night, a really nice lad and he is completely down to earth on where he is currently and where he wants to go. He said it has been a massive difference moving into permanent mens football, and even though he had his stint at Newport, he said that Swindon has been a massive step up in terms of quality of player, quality of facilities and size of club.
He knows that he hasn't done himself justice yet, even he felt that his game against Crewe was his best so far but he knows that he has a lot of work to do to get his levels up, but he is looking forward to a proper pre season and a full year to prove that he has got what it takes to be a regular in this team.
One thing I can catagorically say, nobody here will actually fathom how young and small this squad is until you meet them - we know their numbers yes, but sitting next to Cain felt like sitting next to a teenager - George Mc, my god he looked like a baby and Jack Copland didn't look old enough to be out that late and should have been off doing his homework.
Bar Austin and FBT, I would fancy myself against any of them in a battle for a donut. Even Sol, though he is obviously towered over me, I have seen more meat on a savaloy.
I thought the same about Cain and McEachran, they were both tiny! Cain's a nice lad though, like Berni says, very honest about where he is and how he wants to improve, etc. Plus he bought us a beer, so for that reason alone, he gets my POTY vote

Someone needs to fill him in on Luke Williams!
Or show him comments from our fans early last season about Lindsey. But that was prefaced with about what a nice bloke he is.

Ooh! Ooh! I know the answer...Luke Williams! To be fair, having him as manager was pretty painful but people learn from their mistakes and improve with experience...I assume that's what has happened with him.

Yeah no doubts he learnt from his experience getting shafted by Power & Sherwood!

Did enjoy the LS Presser Pod mentioning that Charlie Austin has scored in the same number of games for Gavin Gunning (2/2) as he did for Jody Morris (2/18). A bit deceiving because of the four vs Grimsby, but funny nonetheless.
Independently, I notice the same is true of Jonny Williams.

*Rochdale …nice stat though - although Austin didn’t feature in all 18 of Morris game.

He featured in 17 of them, 12 as a starter.

So, the gruelling battle for 10th place draws to a close. Possibly more taxing for the fans than the players at times. Does place money operate in the EFL? If so then the difference between 10th & 14th might help to cover some of the volunteer staff expenses.
Most predicted a mid table finish if I remember, those that did must still be disappointed with how it's panned out. I thought that the squad might be capable of a play off place.
No particular axe to grind with Lindsey. Felt that he managed with fear and largely missed his own brief on the brand of football to expect. Not sticking with the formula after Mansfield away was one of a few baffling decisions. Had no idea on what Morris was trying to achieve and it's possible that he didn't either.
Mad Gav in his two cameos has arguably gotten more life out the team than the other two combined. For that reason, I'm quite looking forward to see what he can conjure up tomorrow. I'll go for 3 down at half time and another four fer in the second half from the real King Charles.
It would be good to end with a win to at least finish a horrible season on a positive note.

must get a point to avoid the Beamish record, and to keep Mr chest beater quiet.
prediction wise Duke gave us a heads up on the squad changes. did look like we'd retained just about enough to flirt with playoffs but losing Payne and McKirdy stopped anything more

I've stupidly put Swindon in my accumulator based only on Gunningball.
4-2 Swindon. Austin brace, Hepburn-Murphy brace
