We have a football match in 48 hours!

Mad Gav Gunning is doing the pre-match press conference today, and will manage along with Mildy.

It's Charlie Austin's second debut.

The County Ground may or may not be "packed" - I'd imagine something around 10k perhaps? Real shame that the momentum has been lost a bit from this

The new manager may or may not be in the stands/unveiled, seems unlikely anyone would be in charge in time.

How are we feeling then, a cathartic win to put the last week or two behind us? Or another cruel reality check?

Think Clayton is back fit, so we have a bit of a decision to make about putting FBT back to left back. If we do that, has Lavinier done enough to get ahead of Hutton on the right? Rather surprisingly, FBT doesn't seem to have been recalled.

How do you play Austin? Centrally in a three? In a two with Wakeling to do his running? Can he play with Jephcott.

Lots of questions to be answered - how are we all feeling?

Think I'd try something like:

                   Brynn
FBT MacDonald Clayton Lavinier
          Reed Khan Gladwin
                Williams
           Austin Wakeling

4-3-1-2, relying on the full backs for width but gets a lot of our best players in their best positions.

It’s a shame that a new boss won’t be in charge. As you say we had a real chance to create a huge surge in ticket sales with an exciting managerial appointment. I think the lessons will hopefully be learnt from SL’s tenure, the main one being that LJ or JW as isolated strikers don’t see much of the ball. I would really like to see an attack minded formation with CA with JW and maybe even LJ as a front 2 or 3. Clayton being back is a huge boost. I think the crowd will top 10k. Grimsby get reasonable crowds for this level. I would expect about 300 minimum from them. I feel reasonably positive. I am hopeful that the players want to show what they can do for any prospective new managers who may be watching and the Charlie Austin factor could be the difference.  I predict a 2-1 win with us going 2-0 up within first hour and then conceding a sloppy goal and hanging on for dear life for the last 30 mins.

Our managers Gav Gunning & Mildy both ex-fishy’s as it happens.

I’d go with

Brynn

Lavinier
MacDonald
Clayton
FBT

Reed
Khan

Hutton
Williams
Shade

Austin

Was thinking about going, but can't justify forking out the £28.

I believe we will win comfortably. New manager bounce and all that.

Ah reverse the fullbacks, interesting option Wink

FWIW I think we will see Wakeling and Jephcott together up front with Austin on the bench to start with, just a gut feeling I have. And depends on if FBT/Brynn have been recalled or not and if Clayton is fit enough to start.

I feel we will go with

                      Brynn
Hutton   MacDonald    FBT      Lavinier
                     Reed
    Darcy                     Gladwin
                 Williams
       Jephcott       Wakeling

I was about to post I reckoned Charlie would be on the bench on Saturday.

An edgy game but think players will be out to prove themselves, hopefully a change in tactics.   2-0 to the Town.

Hopefully get the much needed win but it doesn’t lead to Gunning and Mildenhall being given the chance to ‘prove themselves’.

If Brynn goes back to Boro then maybe Mildy will have to bring his gloves out of retirement for Town.

We would be eligible for one of those emergency keeper loans as neither Brann nor Copland have ever played a pro game. I wonder what Conal Trueman is up to?

TBF I thought he was really poor in a poor side, he may be better with better defenders in front of him though.

And Copland has played a game if you listen to some, if Adeloyes goals count vs Chippenham then Coplands game counts too!
