we are bigging this up as the austin home coming so you would think he would start. it was worrying that he appeared unfit in aus before he came. im really hoping we don't see a legs gone austin. im looking forward to going this compared to any other fixture in well over a month.

lets see if anything is different. a new striker, new temporary management and hoping a new one watching in the stands.reason for optimism even without any other signings.

Looks like tickets are selling reasonably well,  despite not flying like they could have done without all the managerial mess getting in the way. Expect it’ll be somewhere in the region of 11k.

They seem to think on their forum they'll bring around 600. Hope so as I think we'll have 10k+ home fans. Will help ramp up the atmosphere for a change.

Quite a few of their crowd guesses are laughable,  6 or 7k

I don't see any point sticking Charlie on the bench, it's not as if we only signed him last night, he's been training with the squad for a couple of weeks now...and it's not as if you would describe any of our strikers as 'undroppable'...

I'm going to go for a stupidly optimistic 3-0 with a hat trick from the Messiah (no pressure Charlie Wink)

Probably mid 9ks for home crowd, so should take it in to 5 digits if they're bringing that many.

Given that our average attendance is 8,892, one can only conclude that they're factoring in the potential for a fishy odour combined with our infamous wind tunnel to keep a few thousand away.

I would be disappointed if we don't break 10,000 tomorrow, they seem to think they will bring between 550 and 800 which seems a bit optimistic with the most they have ever brought being about 550 a couple of years ago IIRC usually its nearer 250. And without our average league crowd being 8,890 and hardly any of those teams bringing more than 200 and the return of Austin could well add 500+ to the crowd it will be poor if we don't get 9,500 home fans.

3-1 with an Austin goal - 10,596 crowd - looks like tickets are selling well.

Just had a glance yeah. With a decent walk up might get to over 10k home fans actually.

In 24 games at the CG bewteen the teams Swindon have won 16 times, drawn 6 and lost just twice, scoring 50 times and conceeding 18 goals.

Both Grimsby wins were 0-1's in 2000 and 2018.

Swindons biggest wins were a 5-0 in 1969 and a 4-1 in 1977, the most exciting game between the sides was a 3-2 win for Town in 94 when Town were losing 2-1 in the 89th minute and Bodin scored a penalty and then Jan Age scored the winner in the 90th minute.

They never normally bring more than about 250 they brought 550ish last time though so they may do.

I remember that I got the blame from Grimbsy fans for their keeper being shit against us a couple of years ago Cheesy

their keeper particularly looks quite weak, as he was in the match up there that we won 3-0 earlier in the season.

Nice to see I take the credit for their keeper having a shocker Cheesy

Grimsby currently sit in 16th place on 30 points (8 places lower and 8 points worse off than us) with 9 wins, 6 draws and 9 defeats scoring 26 and conceding 27 so far.

That inludes a Town win in the windy wet East when we won 2-1 there back in September with goals from Jephcott and Darcy and had Khan sent off after an hour when we battered them for the 1st hour of the game then it was backs to the wall for a deserved win.

Their leading scorers are Harry Clifton on 6 and Otis Khan on 5 goals.

Their last 6 games have ended DLWLLW so very close to our poor run of form with LDWLLW.

Their only player/staff with any links to Town is Giles Coke who had a poor loan spell 10 years ago with Town is development coach there.

Our only links to Grimsby are also coaching staff with Gav Gunning, Steve Mildenhall & Lee Peacock all playing for them at one point.

The away game we were good and deserved winners (imo) but were lucky not to concede at the end. I think they had something like 1.5 xG in injury time.

Thanks for the analysis as always PV.

Usual caveats about data and stats nonsense but the scatter graphs from experimental 361 have us performing fairly similar to Grimsby. Should be a good match.
