McKirdy was lucky to avoid at least one other booking.  It was a matter of time.  A couple of mins after his booking he was having a go at the linesman.

The rest were mostly for cynical fouls rather than force.  Wakelimgs was soft though given position on the pitch.

....................at least two others were yellows, even with my rose tinted specs. Both were drag backs of a player making a run into a promising position.....

Wakeling's "drag back" was well into the Salford half with plenty of players back (don't recall the other).

Bolton (their one player on a yellow) also did a similar drag back.  Free kick but no second booking.

Had Woolmer been consistent (and accurate in the case of McKirdy's legitimate shoulder/coming together), then Salford would have been down to ten and we would have had the full eleven.

For whatever reason, the selectively blind referee probably helped us as we were transformed in the second half.

Credit to Lindsey there on his use of subs.  That aspect looked like an improvement on Garner, even if forced by circumstances and under-performance.

Woolmer isn’t symptomatic of my pet hate with referees. He was a Championship referee last season so he has clearly been demoted down the leagues. I really hate the fact that someone who has been deemed not good enough at a higher level can just get dumped on other unfortunate teams further down the pyramid. If an official isn’t up to the job at one level he shouldn’t the job at any level of professional football, the laws aren’t any different.

Well, this would lead to not having any referees in pretty short order.

League Two is full of players and managers who have either failed to make it in the level above, or are looking to perform well and get an opportunity higher up the pyramid. It would be... odd if the same was not true of the referees.

I do think referees should be full time and better trained/fitter by the way, but that would involve the clubs funding it. Right now we have middle aged part timers being asked to rock up on a Saturday and ref games that matter to people's livelihoods. It's not fair on them or the players.

At 57 he's also quite old to be refereeing at that level.

That’s why you have assistant referees but obviously they are just as useless. Ultimately the referee guessed on a key decision or worst let his emotions cloud his judgement but either way he’s clearly not capable of officiating at this level.

Assistant Referees are no use to anyone if the ref only wants them there to make up the numbers.

Too often we see the assistant looking at the ref to ask the ref what he wants him to flag.

The AR's need to grow some and start to tell the person they are supposed to be assisting what happened from their viewpoint. Don't just rubber stamp a wrong call by the man in the middle.

I hate all the bollocks with how the ARs always raises their flag only when the offside player receives the ball too...even when it's clearly obvious that the only player going to be interfering with play is the said player. There's no need to wait another 10secs to do so when the play has been in an offside position when the ball was initially played.

If this is the case, why not just have fucking robots going up and down the bylines with cameras on? Much like the athletics has had them for the sprinting to check who got over the line first. More fucking accurate but a load of fucking football purists don't want proper tech in the game as it highlights their corruption. Look at VAR...there is actually nothing wrong with the tech it's just the cunts operating it who aren't consistent.

McKirdy had it easy.
Tom Flanagan of Shrewsbury got two yellows for the same incident, followed by the ref saying "See ya later!"

I think it was decided pre season to increase the threshold of fouls etc that officials can now give,re.time wasting, players overstepping the mark, verbal backchat etc.I mentioned this to those around me in the Don Rogers, and they were not even aware of this fact.I think that the ref we had on Saturday was sat right in the front row when the new instructions were formulated, and boy,was his threshold increased.

Best ever 2 yellow sending off has to be Dean Gorre for Huddersfield against us for arguing over a throw in so much he got sent off.  Full on temper tantrum.

I saw the ref after the game being escorted to his car. A town fan also saw him and called him a cheating cunt. He was told by the security team to leave it. Something along the lines of you're kidding right he is a fucking cheating wanker, and one of the security team laughed. The ref kept turning away from this lads direction to avoid eye contact.
Was funnier than it probably reads on here he kept asking him if he was ashamed of his performance.
