Said this ages ago as a reason why there was no point using the Crawley success as a comparison to how his time here could have gone. His style of football is outstanding when opposition leave space for it but when opposition camp in and surrender the possession it’s not as effective and they struggle to break teams down (for the most part).

Worked well at Crawley where in their promotion season they weren’t seen as a big threat initially and I think (could be remembering wrong) they had a mixed start to the season and pushed into the play offs consistently later. Teams didn’t give them much respect away or at home and for the most part attacked them with lots of space left for them to exploit. This enabled them to pick opposition off and not have to spend large amounts of time trying to break down a defensive block.

However, with us and Franchise where both were naturally seen as larger teams at the time he was there, opposition teams left less space open and sat in meaning the onus was on his team to pull them apart and break them down. Resulting in games of just slow side to side passing with little penetration.

That being said though, that Franchise squad is unbelievable for league two and a huge failure to not be fighting to go up.

Another factor which may have contributed;

Scott Lindsey recruited a lot of national league / national league south players for Crawley. And EFL rejects who were castaways at their previous clubs. He had no ego's and chances are they bought into what he wanted to do and it was well documented the team spirit they had. All in it together etc. Them against the world.

At MK, it's a huge budget, some huge personalities etc. Perhaps he just suits the role of an underdog more in general.

I can see him being a great coach well higher up the leagues in Europe.

But playing total keep ball , passy passy football at L2 level isnt going to work.

I didnt take to him. Acted rather entitled, rather than appeal for the fans to give him a chance and some backing. His first full time League Managers job...that was a fact.

Club didnt help by dithering for weeks on end before naming him as the obvious choice!!

The dominating 3 zip defeat away to Stevenage was the stand out for me.
