A lot of those things are included in admin fees.

Don't get me wrong, I don't like Clem and especially the lack of transparency, but everyone thinking he's skimming millions of the club in admin fees are ill advised.

There really isn't money to be made in football club ownership... directly.

If I win the £208M on the euro lottery tonight I should be able to buy Clem out. Not that I have any idea how to run a football club…

You’d make a great partnership then 😉

Edit. You’d be in exalted company sat round the negotiating table. If you do, gen up on how to read a balance sheet, you’ll have digger over a barrel.

But, just as important, you do know how not to run a football club.

There are basics anyone would know though. Last season in the DRS when I went with friends there were no pasties left and no Pepsi at half time (I left before first half finished so wasn’t even at the end of HT). They also didn’t serve alcohol before kick off if you arrived after 1445 (for what it’s worth I was queuing well before this) - fairly sure that isn’t in keeping with the law and would have lost the club money over the season. It is frustrating when I and my friends want to have refreshment and spend money at the club it isn’t possible.i haven’t even been in the club shop recently as (despite the new sign) I don’t have confidence that the offering is anywhere where it needs to be. If it was I would certainly buy club branded products. Apparently there aren’t even any calendars which one would assume is a basic staple.

I have no idea how the in-ground catering works. Are they all individual concessions? Would have thought any lack of provisions would be down to each concession. Would the club have any input into how much stock they keep for Matchday sales?

If I get hungry and pop to the TE catering point (inside, not the  outside one), invariably there's one or two things left. They've usually run out of the steak pasties that I prefer to buy.

I never really got my head around the reason we did this - it created one of the legal cases we are still referring to in the AB minutes because we reneged on a contract.  We seemed to decide to gamble on them not being bothered by us given the scale of the company who owns it (the original firm we contracted were acquired by one of the big players in the corporate catering world).  Given what the club have done with the concession stands, it clearly was not a move designed to increase revenue.

I think initially there was some sort of dispute as to whether the Covid year counted as a year towards the ten years Jed sold the catering for. But not sure if that was the whole problem.

I think the reason alcohol sales stop in at 2.45 is probably linked to the rules which mean you’re not allowed to drink alcohol whilst viewing the pitch. This is why the glass fronted Exec boxes at other grounds have blinds which are closed just before kick off.
I assume the cut off of 2.45 is to encourage people to be in their seats before ko. I am in favour of that.
I sit in the Arkells, and one of my pet hates is people coming in late, leaving seats to go to the Legends after about 40 mins and coming back late - each time making everyone in their row stand to let them past and hence people behind have their view of the game blocked.

However, the big reason people get to their seats late is of course the Club’s failure to open enough turnstiles!
Hopefully a no vote on the development will lead to the Aussie and his cronies selling up.
