Did we ever get the bike rack?  That could be the deal breaker/maker.

We drove past Beversbrook today and it has a Swindon Town sign up outside the entrance. The Mrs asked why it was there, so I said it’s where the team train, she was surprised and said why don’t they train closer to Swindon?

I know it’s an issue that pre dates Clem, but it’s hard to explain why a professional (of sorts) football club train so far from their hometown.

They should get the foundation to build the training ground, they have a much better record of building things than the bob the builders that own and run the club.  Foundation Park puts the club to shame.

Many of the players and Holloway live closer to the Training ground than the GC.

It has surprised me that nobody has gone the Gaming International route from within the club already.  In a serious turn, the idea of using the clubs Training ground needs is a perfect trojan horse for a development to make the business some money and an entirely legitimate one.  Power even went down that road.  There is good money in grants if you can swing some local community improvements as well - just look at the Moredon complex.

As I have said previously my local team Yeovil back in 97 who due to relegation were forced to play in the London centric Isthmian League.

So the club decided to have all their training at a London base and signed players who lived in and around London.

It worked and they won the league.

That was a training ground 135 miles from their home ground, 16 miles is nothing!

Yeah I don't really see much of an issue having a training ground away from Swindon but relatively close to. 16 miles is nothing really.

If we ever get to a stage of competent owners and build our own that we own, it would likely be out of Swindon anyway as land within Swindon isn't exactly freely available.

I have no idea on the ins and outs, but if the club have to rent wherever their training ground is, what’s stopping them using Foundation Park?

Foundation Park is a small part of on overall training ground, f you were looking to build one.  Part of it's remit is the need to be primarily open to Community use, so can only ever play a small part in STFC's needs.
