Layer Road on a Friday night was grim, we got beat 4-0 and had the coach bricked after the game and had to put up with a broken window in mid winter all the way to Heston services before the coach was swapped.
Yes, bricked, hmmm. Our Rimes coach was bricked on the way back from Presnton park one a Friday night after a 2-0 loss when Macari had just taken over. Rimes I believe were the human carriers of despair and misery.

Always prominent at away games Mate in the late 70’s early 80’s. Happy memories. Can’t believe that we used to drive then to Swindon to catch the coach. Get back to the CG and drive back home. Before we started to drive our own way. Where has it all gone? Just feels like yesterday.

Yep I bought my Rimes tickets and LP's from there as well, cracking little shop. Can't remember what the shop was called for the life of me. Does anyone remember Harold Brown from those early days on Rimes coaches ?

I'd also suggest the Stratton bank is worse than the scaffolding at the pikies as at least the facilities are decent for an away end.
From recollection the away end at Edgeley Park is on a par with the Stratton Bank, with the added bonus that whilst you keep dry on a nice day, you are looking straight into the sun.

Favourite away: Charlton and Sheff United probably - old school big grounds with character and atmosphere (and also good playoff results when I visited) Least favourite: Colchester and Stevenage. Colchester’s ground is a clear example of a cheap, soulless Lego stadium in a poor location, far from pubs etc. Stevenage is a bit out of the way from the pubs too and doesn’t sell beer! The ground AFC Wimbledon used to play at was quite crap too.

The Old Valley (charlton) with the enormous terrace area, needed binoculars from the top to watch the match.

Old Wembley was a favourite. For me I love the old old grounds. The Manor, whilst a dump was just special in some way. Loftus Road is another favourite.
Dislikes. New Wembley. it's just a bit shit really. And to be controversial I must say I dislike the County Ground. the only best thing about it is looking for the flood lights whilst entering Swindon. But once inside it's just a little bit shit tbh.

When you get on the pitch at the CG you realise how close the stands are. Tired and could do with the two ends being sorted, otherwise the CG is ace.
