IIRC correctly Tranmere had a very small squad as well (about 19 players), whereas we have good to reasonable cover. Although we're a bit thin on cover at the back.

The tranmere example, wasn't their decline due to players leaving. Jake Cassidy for example was top scorer and he went back to wolves in January. (Similar situation to Franchise with Afobe doing well on loan then leaving mid season). What I'm trying to say is the team that started the season so well wasn't the one that ended. It's looking increasing likely that we may be lucky and keep our best players and not hit the same problems.

Of course we did start their bad run, after tanking them 5-0 on a Friday night before Christmas.

I wonder if the 1982 lot are having the same debate amongst themselves about whether they will make it. The ones I have interacted with seem to think their march to glory will go on unheeded and that Stephen Landsdown will keep signing the cheques. Reminded them of losing Div 3 title to Rovers in 1990 or coming undone by a 40 year old fat bloke (Windass) from Hull in 2008.

Tranmere fell off a cliff 11 points from 17 games.  Ouch!!!

Did Ronnie Moore have a bet on it?

Came through the November challenge.
Look good through the fixture January challenge.
Will believe if we get through the January transfer window challenge.
Then it will be the head to head games out of us and the other 3.
Believe we can but had my hopes dashed so many times before.
Best chance for ages. If we don't do it this season will be far more difficult next with a changing squad.

Preston at home to Yeovil tonight....a win takes them above Franchise but 5 adrift of us....

Along with the Shitheads, they are the least pleasing on the eye of the top 4, but Grayson knows how to get teams up from this league, which may count for a lot come squeaky bum time.  I'd imagine he's quite happy to be seemingly written off.

I don't think anyone has written off PNE or MKD.

It's those teams lingering outside the front pack that concern me as the proverbial dark horses. That said, we're probably the dark horse within this little game of cat and mouse.

I do think over time it will become a 3 way battle between Us, 1982 ltd and Franchi$e, but like Constanza says I don't think anyone has written off PNE - I know it's a long way away but, providing we keep up with the pack, the Easter weekend for us could go a long way to finishing top 2 or settling for a play off place.

20 games for us to go, as long as we do our part the rest takes care of itself - best chance for ages and I'd love it, just love it, to get up into the Championship at the end of the season.

It would be good to finally update the Swindon Town wikipedia with a "2012-2013: After Di Canio limbo" and the pleasure of having a "2014-present: Mark Cooper's success" section cumulating in promotion to the Championship just to make it not so dim reading.

I think we're more like the mid-tone fly on the dark horse within this little game of cat and mouse.

If we finish above either Brizzle or Franchise, I think we're up in the auto places.

If we finish below both we'll be in the Play Offs and lose to either PNE or the Blades.
