Yea that wasnt bad, City will be decent because the stand will be packed, it has superb accoustics and most people stand up.
They are the exception though compared to 10-15 years ago.

Clapping in general, pisses me off, it kills chants off as well. reds go steaming in is a great example of this. Whoever starts the clapping needs their hands cutting off. |

More vocal in the terrace days, or when the Drs was built having the away fans on the bank. Banter between the fans raised the volume. Now, the away fans, who usually number about 300 are on the opposite corner to where any home noise is. I uses to stand in the shrivvy, about 50ft from the away corner, good atmosphere then  |

Being extremely shit/threat of going bust also has an effect on fans and makes them put more effort in. Plymouth and Portsmouth have arguably the best support in the lower leagues.

There is beer in the Arkells and if you can be arsed it's possible to get a pint in from the Legends. It's warmer as the Arkells has better shelter from the wind than the DRS. You can exit the ground in seconds as there is so much more room compared to DRS. Win/win in my opinion |

Atmosphere could be greatly improved at most clubs, if you look at what crystal palace have done they have a hard core selection of fans that sit all togther and have a relationship with the club maybe it something Jed could look at doing.

When people talk about how the atmosphere at football has changed for the worse, I can see that there is probably an element of truth to it. (When 95% of the crowd are adult males, as probably used to be the case, the atmosphere is bound to be more edgy.) But I also wonder whether part of the issue is that the people making the comparison have just got older themselves.

He does have a point, I think back to seasons like 79/80, prob the last time we could get a 20,000+ crowd at the CG...but that wasn't normal for the time...and the atmosphere for a lot of bread and butter fixtures would have been as tepid as now. As for music...there's still good stuff being created, a lot of people though just get stuck in a bubble of only liking waht they grew up with... |
