i do enjoy, up at rotherham being an example, how we all hate drums but that as soon as we're at a ground that offers up some sort of material such as corrugated iron or plastic as part of the stand our fans then think it's fine to thump said material mimicking the sound of, yes, a drum.

The County Ground is simply a poor stadium for atmosphere. Two large all seater stands opposite each other with a small covered stand one end and an empty Stratton Bank the other. The lack of roof plus all the spaces between the stands really don't help. I stand in The Town End and sometimes think that sounded loud etc but friends sat elsewhere in the ground say it was fairly quiet. Fact is until we get 4 similar size stands all with roofs the accoustics will remain shit.

When I went in the 80's in was mostly men. Now times have changed and football is more family friendly and I guess that plays a part too.

All seater stadiums is without doubt a factor, there definately something about sitting down which can dampen the desire to to constantly sing. I cherise the rarer and rarer opportunity to stand on a terrace these days.

Isn't Wolves all seater? Thought the atmosphere there was fantastic. |
