Still recovering a little yesterday, the beer and the sunshine along with ten odd hours sat in a mini bus seems to have left its mark today a little.
Got to say Jacksons Wharf on the little quayside was nice....lovely little old fishing wharf and though the beer wasn't great the fact that there were no TV's on the wall or in the pub at all made it all the better in my opinion....sitting in the hot north east sunshine with a beer and chilling, what more could i want apart from the win to top it off.
A good atmosphere for the game and got to say i found the Hartlepool fans a good bunch.
A rather poor first half was forgotten after the break and we dominated after apart from one effort that hit the bar.
My only small critism is that i think our wide men play to deep at times....Ritchie often deep in his own half to get the ball.
Never understood why strikers do not take penalties but there you go....could have had another one when Benson was bundled over and though really disapointed with the penalty miss a point gained ooop north will do for me.

Troy Archibald Henville was outstanding and my MOM by a long way.....he will take a lot of shoving to get out of the team, could be a gem in the making.
Enjoyed the day and Hartlepool was another ground marked off that list of mine, two clean sheets is a positive sign.
Point gained or two dropped would you say??

For me a point gained because its early doors and it means we are up and running,if it was at the seasons end may be a little different.
It was very, very hot and even the subs struggled with the conditions when they came on.

Thanks for that Leef, nice to have a more positive slant on things instead of the petty whinging about PdC vs Caddis.

Glad to hear we did quite well in your opinion, as it confirms what I have heard from a few other fans that went.

Shame Miller missed the penalty as I read somewhere he has scored most of his goals from penalties and has bagged well over 40 of them and not missed that many.

Roll on Tuesday to get the perfomance and result right against Creepy.

Surprised at the unnecessary criticism people gave Ritchie yesterday, he worked hard and has the right to shoot from distance with some of his scorchers last season, really didnt understand the comments some people came out with, De Vita did naff all' all game but Ritchie got alot of stick for shooting and trying to take on players. Did people forget he was L2 Players of the year or something?
I know he cocked up big time when he should of played that ball through but really the comments for ritchie were far too over the top  Huh?

I don't see much on here that's unreasonable, just some different points of view, that's all.

Assume you mean Miller or did Collins miss a decent chance as well?

Sorry, my mistake, had a few sherberts by then.

I saw the swimmers. Was not in fancy dress though. We were sat towards the sailing ship end of the decking area.

First chance to comment since Saturday having stayed up in Newcastle....

-Great turnout by the fans
-Not the greatest performance....but the first game of the season
-Miller didn't look confident when he stepped up to take the penalty
-Stop over in Newcastle was class, managed to get into the Newcastle v Spurs game for the 2nd half in the away end after being given a couple of freebies by some Spurs fans who walked out a half time.....it's a long way up
-Treble shots on offer
-Everyone thought we came from Essex when we said we're from Swindon......!

I see Paolo's not speaking to the media for the usual post-match comments. Personally I see this as a good thing. Seems like he's determined to just get the job done without distractions.
