To be fair I met Paolo Di Canio for the first time yesterday as we (few of us Supporters) sponsored the game. When we entered his office the first thing I said to him was that we are not a Company just normal Town fans who sponsor 2-3 games a season.
It was almost like lighting a firework he seemed to like meeting actual Supporters. He was funny, charming and of course very passionate. Made my day getting photo's, signed programmes and a signed shirt from a football legend.
Adam at the Club said that was one of the best pre-match chats with the match sponsors. I put it down to him being in front of fans and not Company's . From players to pasta all was being discussed in a very open manner.
I said I hoped he was in this for the long run and of course whilst you cannot guarantee anything he appears to be liking the role. He talked very open about sustainability of teams and getting everything right behind the scenes. He is wary of one season success and modelled Southampton & Brighton who have great set ups behind the scenes as clubs that we must aspire to. If the Board are ambitious then his time with us could be extended.
Interesting comments from Matt Ritchie after the game who said Paul Caddis is the best footballer at the Club.
The whole day was simply great and had a great chat with Grazioli on the pitch before the game, Such a nice fella and talked about Swindon Supporters. He said he never could understand the support he got here, he said he didn't think he played great for us but the fans were simply wonderful.
Didn't get in until 10.00pm last night and have felt tired all day but a great day with laughs all round including Phil King giving a great one liner on recent events.......raised the roof with laughter.
West Ham fans outside Didcot station took a great delight on seeing Paolo's signature on the shirt.
Only got a yellow card from the Mrs as well and hoping we can nail another win at Macclesfield.
Onwards and Upwards...........and took delight in ensuring as many people on Oxford station got a glimpse of the Swindon Colours.
