Series four took a pretty Psychotic turn.

yes, yes it did.

I can't really discuss it here, it only started airing here on Sunday.

I thought the finale started off a damp squib, but I should have known I didn't need to go whistle Wink

I enjoyed it. One of the better things I've seen this year. It does start slow but does pick up the pace.

It has been a while since I have seen Mike from Neighbours as well!

Saw your recommendation and thought 'Brilliant!' as I hadn't heard that the they had dramatised the books. I then saw the characters on iPlayer and Vimes, Carrot, Sybil and Cheery Littlebottom don't look anything like how I pictured them in my mind!  Huh?

Edit:
Richard Dormer as Vimes I can see (although I pictured him as Clint Eastwood)
Sybil I had as Angela Lansbury or Hattie Jacques
Cheery I had as one of the dwarves in Lord of the Rings (with a big beard)
Carrot I had as Arnie with long blonde hair
Peter Kaye would be my idea of Dibbler

I haven't heard great things but will give it a go at some point.

Pratchett's daughter and old assistanty estate guy both distanced themselves from it a bit I think? Not a great record of televising his work, Good Omans was ok.

Agree Ben,wasn't too sure when it started, but was worth sticking with if you don't try to compare to the books too much and just want some light entertainment.
Agree about Good Omens though. Smiley

I put the Good Omens thing down to Neil Gaiman rather than Pratchett.

Can't have The (Night)Watch without Nobby Nobbs (Baldrick) and Colon (Timothy Spall).

I think that is why some of Pratchett's stuff doesnt work on TV - He took things he saw including existing characters and placed them in his Discworld.

Yeah the online Pratchetty folks seem to really not like The Watch, it does seem to have changed a lot gratuitously. Some good actors involved though.

Good Omens was very fun when it was Sheen & Tennant and very dull when it was any other characters. Hopefully the second series will ditch all the human sidelines and just be a buddy cop series with those two.

I think so much of Pratchett's work (especially Watch and Witch) is about the narrative inside characters heads - and in the case of Granny and Vimes - them being aware of the narrative inside there heads and the affect it has on their actions, like a cognitive behavior narrative. Doesn't translate well to screen.

I was reading about that on the BBC website today. Might give that a go, it sounds interesting.

On the documentary front, there is one on BBC about a new DA in Philadelphia which looks like it might be worth a watch. I do like my docs!
