The Fall has me hooked as well!
I wasn't convinced that Gillian Anderson would make a good English cop but she is actually pretty good and the accent isn't that bad for a yank.
Sonic Youth won't be happy with you. With her English accent and background, Anderson was mocked and felt out of place in the American Midwest and soon adopted a Midwest accent. To this day, her accent depends on her location — for instance, in an interview with Jay Leno she spoke in an American accent, but shifted it for an interview with Michael Parkinson. Her current accent is probably best-described as mid-Atlantic tending towards English.

Can't say Anderson's accent has been anything other than pretty good to my ears. There is the odd word that sounded slightly 'wrong', but we'll let her have one.
Very enjoyable this, and I read The Fall has been granted a second series too.

I think she was about 12 so I doubt she had a lot of choice in the matter. I'm not sure Michigan can really be counted as a part of the Mid West anyway to be honest? The Great Lakes always look pretty far East to me when I look at a map.

Think it starts further East than that, Ohio. But I would agree that Iowa is Midwest.

Finished Dexter, loved it. Seen the trailer for series 8 too, should be a pretty mad final series.
Revolution has gotten better. I actually cared about what was happening in episode 10!

You're right! Ohio is the first of the mid west states. Which means the mid west starts two states in from the east coast. New Jersey, Pennsylvania, then the mid-west!

Today I caught three or four minutes of ' The Wright Way' by Ben Elton (I didn't realise it was by him until after I caught it). What a shambles, probably the worst thing I have ever seen on TV. It reminded me of 'When the Whistle Blows' (from Extras) but without the irony or humour. I don't think I have ever seen a worse sitcom in my life.

Just watched the last ever episode of Shameless. It used to be one of my favourite programmes, but it went downhill a few series ago.

Exactly my thoughts. The first 3 or 4 series were excellent and then it started to lose its way quite badly. Good final episode though and the last 5 mins or so were very well done I thought.
