Magera and Clarke are going to be a right handful.

Have we paid a fee for him?

Big bucks if this is to believed, everyone has there opinions but to knock a manager for signing to many players is baffling....who is to say the next two wont be centre halves,....this is a great signing and i for one is enjoying life under Di Canio....we played well yesterday and its only time before we start getting wins.

just done a bit of reading up, he joined Politehnica Timişoara in 2008.  this is what wiki has to say for Politehnica Timişoara since 2008:

Quote
In 2008–09, Timişoara finished the season in 2nd place, qualifying the 3rd preliminary round of the 2009–10 UEFA Champions League[36].
The team defeated the reigning UEFA Cup champions Shakhtar Donetsk, but they were eliminated from the competition during the Playoff Round
by an aggregate score of 0–2 by German club VfB Stuttgart. In the 2009–10 UEFA Europa League Group A, FC Timişoara finished on the last place,
after Anderlecht, Ajax and Dinamo Zagreb[35].

After the 2009–10 Liga I, fifth placed team FC Timişoara were drawn in the third qualifying round of the Europa League against MyPa from Finland,
which they surpassed 5–4 on aggregate, after a spectacular comeback from three goals down in the second leg. However, in the play-off round they
were drawn against Manchester City and were defeated twice in a row, 0–1 and 0–2[35].

In November 2010, a Romanian Court of Appeal returned the name, the colors and the record to FC Timişoara[37]. Due to rules that forbid changes of
team names during a season, the team used the name FC Timişoara until the end of 2010-11 season.
[edit] Relegated to Liga II by RFF (2011–present)

Although FC Timişoara finished on the second place in the 2010–11 Liga I, the team was relegated to Liga II after the license necessary to play in
the first division was denied by Romanian Football Federation[38]. It is expected that they will play in the 2011–12 Liga II under the name Politehnica
Timişoara, but an official statement from the RFF has not been made yet.

it also says he played 85 times for them and scored 20 goals, sounds pretty good to me

You can't argue with his pedigree. 4 caps for Czech Republic and Europa League experience as well. That's bloody good for anyone at this level. He clearly must have a decent amount of quality about him. I just hope he suits the English game and settles in.

Looks class. Clarke and Magera could be a partnership to rip this league apart. Both have a pedigree that suggests they are too good for this level and let's hope they prove it.

Does anyone else think the Romanian first division seems to be riddled with Agent influence and strange goings on?

Clearly couldn't understand a word Di Canio said and ended up nodding and agreeing just to get away from him.

Impressive and exciting blow your socks off signing.

Gutted I can't make Shrewsbury on Saturday. Tempted to attempt City on Wednesday but start work at 6am the next day.

I'm confused, i mean i know we definitley need a physical presence up top but what was the point in spending cash on Connell and drafting in De Vita and Kerrouche then going out and signing two more strikers, Clarke and now Magera, who it seems will be first choice... wheres the logic...?

All managers like 4 decent strikers, so Magera, Clarke, Connell and Kerrouche, I dont actually think De Vita is a striker, more of a sit behind them player and create, so that may be his intended role depending on formation, either that or out on Loan with BB, which is more likely.

Just throwing this out their but devita has started every game ahead of connell despite what we think that suggests to me anyway that pdc does see him ahead of connell.Personal opinion is we could soon see devita taking his place on the bench

I'm starting to think Connell was not the managers signing, I honestly think Connell will score bucket loads at this level, not sure Di Canio feels the same. Would love him to start but can't see that happening for a while now unless there's an injury to Clarke or the big man

Connell will get his chance...down to him to take it.
Paolo has stated that he is a long way short of the fitness levels needed.
