I agree of course, but these rivalries on the basis of religion are a good example of why history is such an important subject, and why the 'cancel' culture is actually a significant attempt to wrestle with the historical garbage that we all have to deal with. I know fir a fact that, off the SPL pitch, Ctic and Rangers work hard at collaboration (eg through their community programmes), but the roots of sectarianism in Glasgow, though much more hidden now, remain very live in families and communities.⁶

Yeah when we moved house during Covid I was anticipating a ridiculous wait for our updated Driving Licences, but they came within days, surprised and impressed!

I was thinking that actually, as I was writing that message earlier that passports take miles longer than driving licences in general. I guess everyone on the planet more or less has a passport whereas not everyone has a DL.

covid did have some benefits.

DVLA getting their online act together while drowning in paperwork is clearly one.

suppose passports may need a bit more cross referencing for security purposes
