I have an interview next week for a different role with my current employers - extra 11k and and extra 18 months on the contract if I land it.
The role would get my salary to within a few k of what I was earning prior to redundancy 4 years ago. Going to get me a new suit this weekend and really go for it at interview.

After 16 years as a returning officer I got used to pretty much ignoring politics as I had to deal with all kinds of nut-jobs on a strictly neutral and equal basis. As far as it goes I believe strongly in individual liberty and non-interference by the state as far as possible, and as a 48th generation wiltshire man am naturally conservative with a small c. |

I wouldn't have thought so. If they could find a credible local candidate I might consider it, but I won't vote for any party if they just place candidates here with no connection whatsoever. Last person I voted for was Ludovic Kennedy, who stood on an independent, pro-euthanasia ticket. Before that, I did vote for Michael Ancrum, as at least he had a house here, his kids went to school here and you would meet him out shopping on a Saturday. He was a damn good MP for the constituency. |
