In Sydney when you go to Circular Quay go to a bar called City Extra.. Good prices and lush food. Also do the ferry across to Taranga Zoo(sp) is a brilliant place.
In perth if you like Steak then go into a place called Hogs Breath.. Best steak ever.
Did you manage to do Fraser Island?

re: the bridge walk
I've done it twice, second time we went we did it at dusk so went up in fading daylight and down in the dark. Can thoroughly recommend if you get the opportunity.

We did the bridge climb, had a really clear day you could see for miles, was absolutely amazing. The climb guide (a scouser unfortunately!) reckoned the best times were either a really clear day, the dusk time, or when its really pissing down & windy cos thats most fun ! We also did the Sydney tower eye late afternoon/evening, so you get the views of the city as it starts to light up, and did a day trip to Manly on the ferry, again coming back into circular quay when the lights were on, a really magnificent sight. Loved Sydney a lot, but dont think I could live there, it was the only place in Oz we went to that had that big city feel to it, everywhere else (OK, just Melbourne & Cairns but still.....) was much more laid back

Only just seen this quote from Richie Barker at the weekend, made me laugh
"I said before all my players have flaws. That's why they play for Crawley. If they didn't have a flaw [...] they would go and play for somebody else."

Just booked an 11 day cruise in North Norway in February Young Sonic will be appaled Ps we are both tee total and have a good supply of Damart thermals Hurtigruten? Norway is beautiful in the winter if you're just there to look at it. It's not so much fun being unemployed and skint.

Yes - I am not old enough to go Fred Olsen & I have no desire to sail across the North Sea in the Winter, so we are flying to Bergen. Should be something a bit different & it has given me the chance to squeeze into my ski gear again. I have been to Norway in the summer (non stop rain) so I sort of know what to expect (non stop snow!)

Are you going from Bergen to Kirkenes and back? My parents went on Hurtigruten this summer and had a great trip.
Enjoy the near permanent darkness!

When you live in a fantastically beautiful place with stunning beaches you crave something 'different' - our best recent holiday was a couple of weeks in Hong Kong ! Plus this is a bit of a landmark birthday holiday - suspect my wife is looking out the life insurance policy Fair play oh scilly one!
