The new TEF server runs faster with a quarter of the ram and less than half the cpu of the old server. It also hasn't crashed so far.  So like most IT chaps you tried to wing it on 'not-fit-for-purpose-hardware' until you're forced to upgrade due circumstance...  |

To be honest though, unlike consumer operating systems, webservers seem to evolve and become lighter, quicker and more efficient. The new server is using less resources during matchday than the old one did while doing nothing at all. In fact, this one, as we chat, is using less memory and cpu than just the anti-virus on the old one. You've jinxed it now

A fair point well made. I actually don't know but you can guarantee that if he met any of the public he would have his bacterial hand cleanser with him. |
