Not wholly trivial, but Payday! I've been out of work for so long it's great to see lots of money in one place again.

Went to see Neil Gaiman in Bath tonight and have his new book a few days ahead of release as a result. Not a major event, but it's made the little nerd inside me happy.

Oh, and Tony Robinson's been knighted. I guess that plan was fairly cunning after all.

So cunning you could stick a tail on it and call it a fox!

Seeing what page we're on and waiting for something devilish to happen.

I was the first post. It's going to happen to me isn't it? Bollocks.

Rowan Atkinson's 'only' got a CBE. I bet that smarts.

Darren Ward's son attends the same school as my boys.  He was round at the school fete today wearing a pair of chino shorts with tight thermal leggings underneath, a casual jacket and aviator sunglasses.  He stuck out like a sore thumb.  All credit though, his little boy had full Swindon Town kit on and he made time to speak to various people who pestered him.

I haven't had a lardy cake for ages. Didn't realise they were of south-west origin.

Another thing I miss, rum baba. They were probably thought of as sophisticated cuisine in the 70's and 80's and considered a bit naff now, I love them. Oh and banoffee pie, but mentioning that usually starts a pie/not-a-pie argument. It is. Accept it. Move on.

Can't beat a good dripper (dripping cake) - a local Gloucestershire speciaility - similar to a lardy cake with a sweet toffee base.
