Vegas is one of those places I think that it turned out much better than you'd think it would...
I enjoyed visiting America but I don't know if I'd want to visit again. If I did then I'm fairly certain Vegas would be near the bottom of my list... |

Personally I really enjoyed it but 3 nights was enough for me and I can't see me venturing back for a few years

Am I the only one who would never ever want to go to Vegas?
I went on the 21st of Feb. Didn't enjoy it much. Brash, loud, expensive... I stayed in the Flamingo, which was tired, but decent enough, especially as the location was superb. Walked down to Luxor and to Stratosphere and back (jumping off it in the process). People implied none of it was walkable, but the only cab we paid for in a week was to Fremont Street. Wandering actually took the edge of the excess of the place. I doubt I'd go again, but we watched Cirque Du Soleil "O" at The Bellagio, which was absolutely fucking amazing and ate a fantastic meal in Grotto in The Golden Nugget, on Fremont Street (which I didn't like). |

I suppose the fact I'm not particularly interested in drinking or gambling will have a large influence... I wouldn't say no to a trip to Vegas but would love to visit some of the more remote and rural areas of the US. I was reading about low population / ghost towns the other day, quite fascinating. I think my love for Fallout: New Vegas might cloud my judgement a bit.
The best things about the USA when I visited was the fact it was $2 to £1, the food was fucking incredible and the people were great.

Seconded! I really really did not like LA. Can understand why you wouldn't want to go SY. Vegas I'm expecting to be Blackpool tacky X 1000. Its a one off piss up for me. Additionally there is the hoover damn and canyon to see. Plus the shows, want to see Penn and Teller and a couple of others. I'd quite like do drive across the states one day east to west, see the middle bit and the ghost towns. |

Penn and teller are great live, the rio is a bit of a walk from the strip though. Do the helicopter tour over the canyon, well worth it.

Vegas is worth going, just to see it. I think I'd go back but only if it was for a stag weekend or something, which isn't going to happen anymore as everyone I know is married.
It's incredibly unique, and Batch, Blackpool is a million miles from Vegas.
It is extremely OTT though, hence why I'd not go back for a holiday of more than a couple of days.
I'm planning on doing 6/7 weeks travelling across the states in 3 years time (enough time to put away the cash to cover not working for a couple of months and also coincides with my eldest completing her GCSE's). Going to see some of the deserted towns as well as the big cities. Just drive and plan it day to day, maybe the odd flight thrown in (I flew San Fran to Vegas 1st class for about £100 last year, so it can be worth it to get the odd day back to slow the drive down).

I did a six week roadtrip around the south, Nashville to New Orleans, then up the east coast via DC to NY, and I honestly think the thing about America is that the touristy bits are overblown and a bit horrid. Did Cape Kennedy, and I also went to Universal Studios last easter, and not only was it fucking expensive, but Americans are the worst tourists in the world, even in their own bloody country... One of the standout moments on the roadtrip for me was pulling into a random town, on one of the back roads down the mississipi, that we wouldn't have stopped in if it hadn't shared my name, having lunch in a diner and ending up trying to teach the westcountry accent to about 12 friendly locals.
Anyway, Vegas should still be awesome. Enjoy yourself batch.
P.S. - In Bruges was on last week and I'd honestly forgotten how fucking great it was.
