Got back from London to family home couple of days ago. Feel a bit shitty and pissed off for various reasons. Go for a walk in the winter sunshine today, and stopped in the middle of a field, closed my eyes, and there was literally silence. Not a bird, not a plane, not a car to be heard. Amazing.
Then a Chinook buzzed me on the way home. Fucker.

Fair play. Am currently looking into the possibility of spending six weeks in Hawaii next year. It all depends on work and whether or not me and the missus can get the time off.

For someone who's only just got a passport, you don't believe in dipping a toe in the water do you?

Ha. The original plan was to go to America, then go to eastern europe and work my way back from there. The latter part now depends on whether I have a Job to come back to though. Which bit?
Fly out to New York, dick around there, philadelphia and washington. Fly down to new orleans. Get a hire car, drive to santa fe via austin, see the grand canyon, las vegas, yosemite, san francisco before flying back from LAX.

Well that's definitely a month's worth of work! New Orleans isn't worth spending too long in- once you've walked around the French quarter, got drunk on Bourbon street, been to a jazz club, taken the tram, and been on a river boat that's pretty much all there is to do Tourism-wise. Was there for 4 days last summer and ended up going to the Aquarium!

Washington is dull. The whole city revolves around politics, which may or may not interest you. That said, the Smithsonian Museums are awesome (sorry) and mostly free. My advice would be forget the city and travel 30 miles or so down to Chesapeake Bay for some Blue Crab.
I had a dream the other night that work was relocating to Denver. Shame it was just a dream....

Cool, cheers. We'll only be spending a few days in each place, so I doubt there'll be much chance for going off the beaten track too much. Will have a look though (not for crab. Crab is disgusting)

Make sure you visit Frenchmen Street for this, it's got about 6 small but amazing bars which play mainly jazz and are generally brilliant - if you don't like the music in one, just hop to another. Some people unbelievably stick to Bourbon (which is seedy but fun) and manage to miss it.

If you are going to LA I found it was great to see the sights, but the City wasn't great. Too many cars and you need to drive everywhere.

Read a story in the paper today. 2 coach loads of carol singers heading for a concert near stoke last week. loads of police flagged them down and then escorted them with sirens at break neck speed. They disembarked at Port vales ground rather confused, where a copper said " err you dont look much like Chesterfield fans"

I did.........It was brilliant...........Unfortunately it had to come to an end! Disagree about DC though. Great to wander around see the sights. Agree Smithsonian is awesome. You have to do Baltimore too. The Inner Harbour used to be the place to go to get decent food. Chesapeake Bay Bridge is pretty cool too. Annapolis is quite pleasant to walk around.
