It's like ten thousand spoons when all you need is a knife. Then you get a knife only to find out you needed a spoon after all.

Rain on your wedding day would only be ironnic if you were a weather man/lady and had predicted sun.

A mate of mine once told me I don't understand irony, which was ironic because we were both at a bus stop at the time.

Off this week so I've just been on a nice long walk with the dog at Ham Hill. Didn't see anyone else, walked for miles and the only noise was birdsong. Sometimes the simplest pleasures are the best.

I finally bought a DSLR today. In typical Samdy style, it was only 18 months after first thinking about it.

Still, £215 for a Nikon D3100 seemed a bit of a bargain.

Welcome to the club!  I would recommend a book called Understanding Exposure by Bryan Petersen if you are just getting started.  Will give you a good understanding of aperture, shutter speed and ISO and allow you to take the camera out of auto mode to really get the best from it.

Ordered online from Currys.

Advertised price is £299.99. You can get £5 off with code CE100 (or if you spend over £300, use code CE300 to get £10 off). Added to that Topcashback are paying 10% for Currys today and if you sign up to Topcashback by midnight tonight you can double the cashback up to a maximum £20. Finally, Nikon are paying cashback of £35 themselves which I'll claim once the camera arrives.

Been watching the royal variety performance, isnt the queen supposed to be there? When the cameras pan up to the royal box all you can see is the spot lights shinning back. Are performers bowing to an empty box! Perhaps she didn't fancy it tonight.  Smiley
Edit. Looks like she turned up for the last five minutes.

Ha. Just don't like paying any more than I have to Smiley

Found it on Hotukdeals where other geeks/saddos look out these deals so you don't have to.

Ah yes, I'm signed up to that but I can never be arsed to check the emails so I usually find the really good deals 3 weeks after they've expired. Fair play to you. I might wander over to the 4D forum and start a "Which bridge/CSC camera?" thread later as I don't know we need a DSLR and I don't think the missus would get to grips with it
