Nice one Pie and Ginginho.

This.  I'm not particularly looking forward to the job hunting that lies ahead for me.  Your news gives me some hope that there are jobs out there if you want them!

Sometimes leaving a job can work out to be a blessing in disguise.
Hope it works out Jo....and to all of you starting or hoping to start a new job.

A good friend of mine lost his job after many years,he took it badly and was very, very low for a good few months.
Now though he realises it was a blessing for him and he is now enjoying life with another job.

Good luck, remember that not hearing back from companies in these times is normal and not personal. You **will** get there.

There are plenty of jobs out there, but the competition is fierce.

What clinched it for me was realising that at 43 I still have a lot of working years left, and that I have time to build another career from scratch. I took a job in the warehouse of a local supermarket - the lowest of the low putting rubbish in skips and unloading lorries.  After 2 and a bit weeks they promoted me to section supervisor. Aiming to break into store management within a couple of years, and having great fun.

I am really enjoying life without all the pressure

A bit perhaps, but not in the same way. The pre-redundancy job was all project management and personal legal liability if you screwed up. Ultimately, any problem in a supermarket can be solved by rolling your sleeves up and putting stuff on shelves, and leding by example. You don't have any personal pressure over what to stock etc as that is all decided centrally.
