Yohan Cabaye must run close though, what 4.5m when you think what Liverpool spent on Adam, Henderson and Downing!

Newcastle have made the 'big' clubs look very foolish with their shrewd transfer dealings. Some free kick by Cabaye! Davide Santon looks decent as well.

What is it with Fergie and buying dodgy goalkeepers. Bar Schmeichel and Van der Sar, who played international football, the other keepers he's bought over the years have been a bit dodgy to say the least, with Massimo Taibi starting it off.

Most goal keepers are going to look pretty dodgy next to Peter Schmeichel and Edwin Van Der Sar!

It does rather blow a hole in the "soapy tit wank isn't Mike Ashley fat and stupid" line that the media love though. Who does their transfers these days? I know Wise left.

The fact we haven't conceded more than one goal in any game, in any competition, for 17 matches.

I realise Newcastle are unlikely to win anything this season (when Ba and Tiote go to the African Nations they will struggle), however it just goes to show that you don't need to throw stupid sums of money about to find good players. Liverpool are probably the worst culprits, some of their recent signings have been absolute bobbins!!

I've just realised that my week off coincides with the Superbowl, meaning I'll be able to watch it all the way through for the first time since my student days.

I got through a restructure with my job intact - until February, at least. I'm treating this as a win.
