Fuck. Just clicked.
TIL that I'm 27 years old and have never really understood the meaning of irony.

I didn't feel happy lying - but after hearing that £2-3k is the average sort of payout for 'whiplash - no questions asked' - I wish I had.
I wonder if I could claim for the loss of legs - then they could miraculously grow back!

The insurance companies are the problem. I had a small dent in my tailgate which was easily and cheaply knocked out. The insurance company insisted the entire tailgate was replaced with a new one.
They do not repair - they replace with new. That's the problem

That's not the cause of high premiums. The cause is uninsured drivers causing smashes, whiplash claim culture, etc

I was involved in a shunt in March. My car had minor damage to the bumper and front grill, the place the insurance company insisted I took it to took two weeks to fix it, all the while I was in a hire car paid for by the insurance. The bill for replacing the bumper and repairing the grill was over 800 quid and god knows what the hire cost. If I'd had to pay for the repair myself, it would have gone into my regular garage and I'd have had the car back the same afternoon. Featherbedding by insurer-mandared preferred garages may not be the sole cause of high premiums but it certainly doesn't help bring the cost down.

I had a prang in my car 18 months ago. No other vehicle was involved, but I had to claim through my insurance because the repair cost was quite high. I've had a number of calls since from accident claim companies insisting I can claim compensation. I can't see how exactly since it was my own stupid fault and nobody else was involved?
