I’ve noticed reports on social media that there is a lack of fresh produce in many supermarkets. Is that right?
Weirdly Peppers are like rocking horse shit, but there does seems to be a shortage of random fresh fruit and veg at different times at the moment

So many Hetty Wainthrop's out in force! Ridiculous really
Problem is poor lass being found in the river, as the police always suspected she would be, means the Karen's need another outlet to tax their podcast addled minds. I see the Government are sensing political capital and now wading in about Lancs Police as well.

Not sure what's causing it, although I do like the conspiracy theory that its apparently down to the supermarkets, 'cos having nothing on the shelves to sell is obviously as massive part of their successful business models.

Staff shortages maybe? Got the stuff but nobody to put it out.
Maybe all the nasty foreigners are keeping it for themselves! No shortages here.

Went to 3 supermarkets yesterday looking for peppers, had no luck at all, not even frozen. That chilli really wasn’t the same.

A lot of our fruit & veg is imported so wonder if it’s the cost of transport going up & the buyers here not willing to pay the extra, either that or import delays. Probably having a knock on effect on frozen stuff as people are buying that due to the lack of supply of the fresh option. Looking at online shopping the amount of stuff unavailable is bonkers, didn’t know if that’s because the supermarkets are trying to force people to come back to the shops as it’s easier to cross sell

Pre-brexit a lot of fruit and veg came from the sea of plastic in almeria Spain, not sure if that's the case now?

Checked with the household veg buyer at dinner time and apparently there don't seem to be shortages up here (bar Iceberg Lettuces apparently) as we had a healthy pepper delivery this morning so I suspect its more of a local/regional issue?

Likewise, had red, orange and yellow. Now I know how Elon Musk lives!

Did you hear about the greengrocer who had a lettuce up his backside? He went to the doctor to report it and after examination asked the doctor if it was serious. "It's serious" the doctor replied, "this is just the tip of the iceberg"

I've noticed fresh tomatoes have been in short supply in the last few weeks (Sainsbury's hasnt had great stock of what i usually get for a number of months/maybe a year now). came to a head on Friday at 5pm where there wasnt a single fresh tomato (or any other peppers than green) to be had in west Swindon Saino's. Livid. Plenty places the same around the country looking on twitter too. Doing a bit of reading its a combination of shite factors on the tomato front. energy and seed prices limiting growing in the UK and since Brexit (sunlit uplands still pending), we're importing more from morocco to fill the shortfall from Spain. problem with that being, in the run up to Ramadan, Morocco limits exports to make more available to its own people to cope with a surge in demand ahead of Ramadan as Moroccans stock up. Should point out that was just one source/website that i've not corroborated with other takes...so may not be the fullest picture going. Think i've seen a few sources saying that its probably going to be like this until April before it starts getting better reminds me i should really getting some tomato and chilli seeds planted before long. could be sitting on a goldmine come the summer.
