Most back pain is caused by being a fat bastard

Lose some weight, help yourself

Are you calling me fat, Alan?

I haven't a clue about your physique Sam.

Just relaying what a very good physiotherapist friend of mine tells me. He is sick of it. Patients who have back problems who are overweight.

I have started playing "spot the slim/normal person" in Asda now and I regularly fail. Just an observation.

I was once told that 1 kg of excess weight puts 10kg of extra stress on the back.

So I'm putting 120 kg of extra strain on my back?

I've known slim people with back problems which have never fully recovered.  Thin people can also be worse off if falling Ill due to lack a of fat reserves. Especially elderly ones.

Carrying a bit of extra timber can prove beneficial.

Height issue ? I'm 6,3' myself and have had the odd back problem but thankfully haven't escalated yet.

In my case it's more of a posture thing, my posture is dreadful.
