Back pain. I'm currently signed off work and have been for a fortnight. My lower back went, and for a few days I couldn't walk at all. I've been given painkillers and seen a physio, and all I've been told to do is stretch. I can now walk okay, but can't do simple things like put my socks on, drive etc. It's so frustrating that there seems to be nothing I can do to make it better... and it fucking hurts.

I feel your pain mate, mine was bad for 6 months recently, ended up giving up the firefighting malarkey and continued in a desk job

I suffered on with a slipped disc in my lower back for well over a year.

My GP spent a lot of time saying 'it should pop back in'. Painkillers stopped working, all of the issues you mentioned were a proper chore and walking became almost impossible despite soldiering on. My employers didn't really want me in the building either and they referred me to the company doc who had me signed off. It was massively frustrating.

On a Wednesday I started having issues with toilet related movements, I couldn't do either without a significant struggle. By then following Sunday I had been sent to A&E (thanks to a different GP), had surgery and I've been much, much better ever since.

Sounds like negligence on your GP's part there

In retrospect, you're probably right.

My missus has a yahoo email account, which is firstname.lastname@yahoo.co.uk

But suddenly it now states when she sends an email that her email address is firstname.lastname@yahoo.com and if you reply it just bounces back and says that the email address doesn't exist?

2nd Hand Car Sales... It would seem a sales tactic of theirs would be to keep the better cars online even after they have sold.  I tend to call before going to view but its annoying to keep hearing. "oh that sold a few days ago" or "is that still on the site? that sold a while back" a week later, its still there.

Back pain is a nightmare. I've been referred to Occ Health via my employer recently & had similar feedback to you. Been told my issue is all muscular & that I need to do biomechanical exercises, squats, lunges etc. Gotta cut back on the running/rowing/press ups/sit ups aswell. So frustrating!!

My experience with occ health is identical... how do you strengthen if the pain and movement isn't improving?

Sounds like no rumpy pumpy for you then....being an old perv in full working order does have its compensations.

Back pain is generally due to muscle imbalances, usually the glutes, hamstrings and hip flexors caused by prolonged sitting.

Stretching helps me, as does a foam roller.

Look after your back, folks. As they say, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

I will second this.
My mum is permanently disabled due to her back, and it obviously wasn't preventable, but I don't think some people realise how important the back is. Your back goes, it affects everything. I recommend everyone do stretching and exercise, especially if you're desk-bound.

That said, we've had problems with OH too. Hope you guys get it all sorted out.

Those who slag off 'supporters'for leaving a game early - what difference does it make to you really? Stop you sleeping at night?! Come on, do you really give a fuck?...the same people that moan that we  take more for a wembley visit than we could fill the CG with  Zzz

Probably why I posted it in a thread titled "trivial things.." Rather than that "things that keep you up at night and ruin your life", no?
