Equally the council could have notified them of the requirement and warned them in advance of their intended action if the couple didn't get permission.

I don't like pavement parking and I particularly dislike all these wankers who think that because they've bought a house that means they've also acquired the road outside for their sole parking use.  In this case though I have some sympathy for the couple, mainly because they live in Hull of course.

To be fair we only have Darren's word that the Council didn't inform him, and he was too busy telling people about his Ford Fiesta ST....

As I am presently applying for permission to do this for a client it is a long drawn out process, the Council have to do the works to facilitate access, and this includes testing and if necessary working to ensure the pavement to be crossed is safe for pedestrians and structurally sound enough for a car to pass over.

You need to copy the full link with the youtube.com in, not the shortened youtu.be version.

If you're going to copy the shortened url and make it the format we need here, take everything after the slash and add it to the end of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v= So in the case above http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NC0IJQ_s7No

Fuck it. That's going to be my new "project". Make youtube https and shortened links work. (I'll lose interest in about 10 minutes I expect!)
