Girls are more attractive without makeup anyway. Least that's my opinion.

The better looking ones I've already seen without make up so wasn't so much of a shock.

This is in the things you don't understand rather than things that annoy you category:
I know we're supposed to know that the worldwide web isn't the same as the internet.
But what is the difference? Thanks. x

The internet is the actual underlying network (or actually network of networks of networks) that the Web (and other things like email, streaming videos etc) runs on. The Web is an application protocol that runs on that network. It is made up of some servers (software on big machines that hold all the content such as web pages, videos, pictures etc) being accessed by clients (web browsers running on smaller machines such as your laptop, phone, home PC etc). "The internet" is also used as a global term to refer to both the underlying network and the various applications etc that run on top of it. Used in that sense, "The Web" is a subset of "The internet" which also encompasses other apps such as email, streaming videos etc etc. Annoyingly most journalists, including some supposedly technical journalists, seem to use the two interchangeably hence why there is such widespread confusion. That's a really bad explanation, tbh. But you really don't want me going into the OSI layers, trust me

Think of the internet as like dry toast. A useful conveyor of things, but a bit bland in of itself.
The web is the Jam and honey and marmalade and butter and oh my that goes on top and makes it actually enjoyable.
Yes this is not exactly accurate but I'm toning down as much as possible here.

Thank you PD and HT for the layman's answers. I didn't need anything more advanced than that.

I'm still mad about that quiz night some years ago now where the quiz master insisted the correct answer to "Who invented the Internet?" was Tim Berners-Lee.

Was that one of the Legends nights, Sam? If so, yes it bugged the hell out of me as well.
