My new front door has a spy hole, slap bang in the middle of it. Perfectly normal, no qualms with that. It is, however, flanked by two windows, rendering the spy hole entirely useless.
Just out of interest did you get the secured by design upgrade to your door.

We had a week away at the start if Feb, and I paid for one of the boys (the lot - flights, parking, hotel, golf). After 2 weeks of fobbing me off with excuses, he's flat out ignored me for the last week. It's only this week I've really chased him.

Aside from the friendship dilemma, any suggestions of how to get some money out of the cunt?

I see two approaches here:

a) invite him out for a drink and discuss the impact it has on your finances and that you just want to reach an agreement that doesn't place him in financial hardship but does mean you can pay some of your own bills as well.

or

b) Slap in a request for a court order at the small claims court.  The threat of a CCJ might get you something or the court will find in your favour and order he pays a set amount per month until the debt is cleared or face further court action.

The latter does work, but you can probably rule out a drink going well without needing to watch out for being glassed.

Write it off and chalk it up to experience. Never loan money to mates.

Melodramatic as usual from the old guard. It's not like he's fucked off to Mexico with my life savings. It's a few hundred notes that I would just like back in time to gas it at Cheltenham

Get your other mates to put pressure on him is another alternative. Whatever the outcome I fear an unhappy ending to the saga.

Got a mate who did the same thing for another mate, never did get his money back. But he was too fucking polite to chase it.

Either do that and never see your money again but keep the friendship until he finds someone else to leach off. Or hound him and forget the friendship.

First time in months that it's been dry and I've had time to clean the car inside and out. Get the vacuum out and heavens open.
