So....... Why are you there?
Exactly! Reminds me of the advert (something public transport related) from a few years ago showing someone sitting in his car in a jam with the caption 'You ARE the traffic!'

Looks like this news items got legs. BBC, all that is Holy for the PC brigade, are reporting, that Asda has a similar policy. With regards to colleagues who have religious difficulties with alcohol and pork need not work on the tills. Speaking as one who has had to work with the public and can appreciate the arseholes that they are. It means the Muslims probably get an easier job, stacking shelves and such. If I should be lucky enough to work for Asda in the future, I'm going to be a fully paid up Muslim. At very much.

Stacking shelves is by far and away a much harder job than scanning at the checkout.

If only i knew about this when i worked at Sainsbury's, I hated checkouts, and all along there was an easy way out. :-)

I disagree. Ok stacking shelves isn't sitting on your arse but you don't get the stress of stroppy customers. I used to be a taxi driver which was the perfect job if it wasn't for the public.

Eh? Have you ever worked on the shop floor of a supermarket? Half the time is dodging customers who are in the way, cleaning up after they've split or broke something, putting things back in the right place after a customer has just dumped them somewhere, showing people where things are in the store or running out back to see if you have anything in stock. And you can be damn sure if it isn't in stock, it will be your fault

Most Catholics use contraception anyway. It's only the lunatic fringe who stick to the rulebook.

But at least you can escape out back picking stock. On the tills you are stuck with it until break time. then again, you get lumbered with deliveries and (when I was a Saturday boy) covering the breaking down of cardboard boxes into a skip!

Well, some of u lot should have gone shopping at Sainsburys today. Fuck all stock on the shelves and, because of an accident, over an hour to get out of the fucking car park.
Which means I have also got to go shopping at M&S again tomorrow.
What joy!

My mother in law got stuck trying to get out of there for over an hour. If you're going to M&S at Orbital, you're better off parking in the car park round the side. It will be gridlock trying to get in and out of the main one because of Asda.
