No, not at all. Maybe some sort of cheap brick if you want them to be able to contact you but anyone giving an iPhone to a 9 year old deserves sectioning.

Alot of my nearly 9 year old's friends having mobile phones, some of them having iphones and the like. This is becoming a daily argument and I'm the nastiest mum in the world, because he hasn't got one and I have no intention of letting him have one soon. Maybe I'm behind the times, but am I really being that unreasonable?
Stick to your guns. Mine are 13, 12 and 10 and are still having to make do with cheaper models.

So at what age did yours have a phone irrelevant it's a cheap one?

Everton annoy me. The way they consistently let themselves down against Liverpool. Must be very hard to take for the decent half of merseyside.

2-2, got to be one of the worst Liverpool sides ive seen in a while. If Everton dont win this then they should really be kicking themselves

Mine all got their phones at the start of year 6 at school, which was when they started being allowed into town more on their own.

Our 9 in august son wont be getting one any time soon either. Then again he isn't allowed off to play out of sight either, unlike some of his classmates who seen to be allowed to roam from orchid vale up to woodhall park any time.

My other half's sister lets her 3 year old play games on her iphone - yesterday he managed to download the new Taylor Swift album for £12.99! This should be in the opposite thread but as we're on the theme of children and iphones...
