Just heard from some town fans who went today that the O'Neils in Kings Cross refused to serve anybody wearing a poppy.

The EDL (who I know were having a massive rally today) are saying it was them who got refused service. Not wishing to get into politics, but if I was an Irish pub I probably wouldn't want to serve EDL members. Not sure if the poppy thing was a shit excuse by the barman or the EDL attempting to stir shit up.

My friend who went today told me he was refused service cos of the poppy but that would explain why they did it though.

I heard a few poppies were refused service in a London pub because of the pricks underneath them.

Do you still "suffer" in the morning though?

Occasionally. Never too bad though.

Tonights vindaloo was hot as fuck for me and borderline too hot

Whilst at uni my parents have removed my virgin media box, which is fine as it's not like i'm using it.

However, whoever took it out has fucked up the Ariel so I can't get freeview on my telly either.

Am I alone in not liking very spicy food? I like spicy food but I find that a lot of dishes don't really taste of anything, just hot.

I am a little bit of a wimp thought
This, too much spice just spoils it as all you can taste is spice.

Why do they leave it so late in the year before putting the clocks back?  (Yesterday was 'Summer Time', apparently.)  It's only 8 weeks before the shortest day.  If they put them forward again 8 weeks after the shortest day (ie when daylight hours are the same as they are now), Summer Time would start again on Feb 15th.  Makes no sense.

Makes no sense putting the clocks back anyway. BST should be our default position. Put them forward another hour in the summer if you like, but this makes no sense.

Why do we even move the clocks backwards and forwards anyway?

I always though it was because back in the times before electricity, such jobs like farming which relied on sun light to be done could be done more efficiently, so move the clocks back and forward gives you extra sunlight an the start and end of the days.

It's for the Sweaties...when Salmond gets his independence, we won't need to bother.

Wasn't it introduced during the Great War, to increase production? Fucking waste of time now. They managed to get rid of standard pub opening times (Introduced iirc during the same period) but not messing about with clocks.

Alot of my nearly 9 year old's friends having mobile phones, some of them having iphones and the like.  This is becoming a daily argument and  I'm the nastiest mum in the world, because he hasn't got one and I have no intention of letting him have one soon.  Maybe I'm behind the times, but am I really being that unreasonable?
