Waiting in for parcels only for the postman to not bother ringing the doorbell/knocking on the door. Also lied on the little red slip as to what time it was when they 'attempted delivery'.

Complaint to Royal Mail sent...

It boggles the mind why they didn't bother. Only thing I can imagine is he couldn't be arsed to bring the package upstairs in our building, but even then there's a fucking lift.

Had a courier company today try to deliver a package, by knocking on the door (there is a doorbell !!), then without hardly waiting, trying to hide it in a 'secure' place....behind the dustbin, despite having a porch, where all our post is left.

Could we have not utilised one of the Olympic facilities instead of spending 100 million on a new high-tec training ground at Burton? With all the financial hardship going it just seems unnecessary and expensive.

It's the FA's money so in essence it is a private investment.

In times of recession private investment is needed because it gets money circulating in the economy. It creates jobs and materials are purchased etc.

My neighbour. He has built a conservatory/extension to the front of the property which connects directly to our porch, without planning permission and without the common courtesy of even telling us what he was planning and has subsequently done. The structural work is complete (i.e. walls, windows, roof etc.), but they have discovered water ingress which is (allegedly) coming through the corner of the roof of our porch, so he can't finish the job and expects me to fix the roof (although he has offered to pay half).

Needless to say I'm not happy and I'm in discussion with the local planning officer as to what to do next.

Hassle I just don't need at the moment.

That's horrible.  Amazes me that anyone would go ahead and build something like that without getting planning persmission as well.  I have a feeling that the planning officer is going to be very sympathetic to your position.  Just hope you don't end up falling out with your neighbour (through no fault of your own)...because that would be rubbish as well.

I don't get it. How can their water ingress be your responsibility?

More than mildly annoying, but I've completely screwed my ower back doing squats... no idea what went wrong, but it was agony when I did it on Tuesday, and that evening I was reduced to actual man-tears and couldn't get up off the bed. As of today, I can get around, but can barely walk or operate the clutch in my car.

Ouch.

I did something similar a few months back, never felt pain like it and was struggling breathing. Got some strong painkillers from the docs and I was alright after about 3-4 weeks.
Thought i'd slipped a disc or something.

Sounds quite serious if your struggling with walking, Has it left you with numbness in either leg or feet?

Update. I've spoken to the local planning office and they definitely didn't apply for planning permission. I'm still waiting to speak with the planning officer to see if they should seeing as they have effectively joined their porch to ours.

I asked them to get at least two independent opinions as to where the water ingress was coming from. Their contractor who installed the conservatory told them it was from my porch roof. The two roofing experts claimed it was inconclusive, but was unlikely to be coming from my roof, else we'd be able to see significant water ingress in our property - which we can't.

So, in summary, its back to being their problem to address with the conservatory installer.

I expressed my irritation that they had carried out this work without even informing me, for which they did acknowledge and apologise. I don't really care about relations with them as we plan to sell up in the next few months anyway.

Now to deal with all the other twats causing me hassle......

squats can go seriously wrong if
a:  you attempt to much weight
b: your form is wrong

I feel for you though, been in a similar position before
