This bloke. He's spent the last twenty minutes pretending to be fouled and then arguing with the linesman when he doesn't fall for it.

Instead of having an open roll of each wallpaper for people to rip off a bit as a sample, B&Q are now selling sample rolls for 99p each. I wanted samples of 5 different ones, sod paying a fiver to decide which one I like best!

Surely that's a local store management decision. Find it difficult to believe such a large chain would make such a huge marketing error.

I'd be surprised if it's not across the board. They're properly sealed rolls with a sticker saying sample roll. Far more than you would need as a sample, but not enough to have any other use. Complete rip off imo and I subsequently went and got samples using the 'free' method elsewhere!

Do you really need samples? Surely it's not like paint. Can't you just look at it in the shop and say "yeah, actually I quite like that one".

Me and.countless others for a Feature wall, not all walls. And until you have a sample stuck to the wall you can't see whether you really like it or whether it goes with the furniture etc. It's obviously a female thing!

First thing I did was contact my bank and stop the dd and visa cards linked to my paypal. Then I contacted Paypal both on line to highlight the transaction as fraudulent and by phone to speak to someone for a bit of reassurance.
Paypal were great and stopped it in its tracks, but their systems seem to try to take the money and then pay it back - which they were unable to do as I had stopped the dd/visa cards. They seemed ok with this despite their auto emails telling you they an't take the money. I think its better to be safe than sorry.
hope it works ouot for you too - let us know how you get on.
Since you asked, paypal have now reviewed this transaction and will be refunding my account, although its another five days before it gets back into my bank acc. - so about 17 days in total I have been out of pocket...anyway done now, and at least its taught me to be a bit more secure in my online transactions. A few things I have been wondering though.....this transaction was someone paying for a macbook on ebay, from what looked like a genuine seller - how to paypal decide what is and isnt dodgy? - do you think the guy selling the laptop was genuine and was just caught out with a dodgy buyer - or , is the whole scam include putting up a non existant item onto ebay in order to make a false payment?
