Other than the very convincing 'so fuck off' argument, why should the Falkland Islands stay under British control? I've always thought it's a bit strange that a few islands off the Argie coast are ours in the first place.
Let the residents of the islands decide. I'm sure they'll want to stay British anyway.

They will want to stay british. We could bring all of them to Britain, give them a million pounds each and still be better off than it costs to protect the Falklands.

A cost that may be off set just a tad by exploiting the oil in the region.

Oil? They've done a great job of drilling for water and sand so far. But you're right, oil is the prize.

Something else about the Falklands, about the cost of defending them. There was no cost of defending them, they were just quite happily sitting there doing there own thing as they have done for hundreds of years. Until one day in the 80s Argentina decided to invade because their boss was under a bit off pressure. I do not consider myself a nationalistic person. To quote Einstein: Nationalism is an infantile disease. It is the measles of mankind. But should Britain have to hand over the Falklands for no other reason than Argentina have recently decided they want them? Jog on...... Anyway it is detracting from the point that Sean Penn is a proper clueless, ignorant cunt.

BR I was referring to the fact one of my mates bought a fair few shares down in an some company looking for oil down in the south Atlantic, and they were all set to announce their big find one day, and when they did, it was a 'we've only found sand and water'. The lad got a fair bit of stick. And being devil's advocate about that article, I wouldn't fancy Rockhopper's hopes of raising that $2bn they need if they'd come out and said, 'nope, ain't found anything yet, but could do with some more cash'. They're bound to big up any finds they may have come across. Optimism and estimates are usually based on belief than fact.

Blame Rupert Murdoch. Isn't O2 starting its own thing?
