If you take away the fact Mary Earps is a female and just based it on achievements alone in the past year. How the fuck has she beat Stuart Broad, Ronnie o’Sullivan and Frankie Dettori?

Tbf, it wasn’t a great year. I thought Dettori had retired years ago. Stuart Broad hadn’t won anything either and I can’t see a snooker player winning it.

Didn't 20 odd million people watch the Womens World Cup final in England, or a high number like that?  I imagine Ronnie O'Sullivan is known by a few hundred thousand who would know to vote.  I mean, how many people watch Snooker these days?

I'd agree that Earps would have had more outreach to the general and sports watching public. Her shouting "fuck off" was also one of "those" moments in sports in the last year.
She tried to work with Nike to take womens' kit seriously and they've turned around their stance by doing limited runs of her jersey.
I think she's done well on the pitch, has a personality and was successful in terms of the criteria to vote on.

The England Women's Football Team are incredibly popular amongst demographics which frankly, this forum long since exited (or was never in). It's not fixed, you're just not the average voter any more.

Personally I think KJT should have won, but the winner being the most visible person from this year's most watched sporting event is... not a shock.
