Aluminum etc.

We are the ones who changed it!  It was Aluminum, but the British scientists wanted it to sound flashier - most new metals were given ium's at the end.  The American's just stuck with the original name given to the metal.

It caused me much annoyance when finding this out after trying to correct the locals.

Most of the differences are because the USA uses Olde English, from the 1500-1700's.  Similar to French Canadian no longer looking like French, because the base language continues to evolve but the expats cling on.
